Intensive Cane Dance Choreography Workshop toAin Ya Moleytan”

You will learn: a great assortment of folk steps, cane twirls and accents that will be very useful for creating your own cane dances. You will enhance your dance vocabulary and group synchronization technique. This dance is great as a solo.

Amara believes in adding cane to the flow of your dance not just as tricks, but as an extension of your body movements. Amara’s life long achieved instructional skills will teach you a choreography that incorporates musicality with classic cane dance reflective of authentic Saidi and Beledi styles.

Adhering to a 3/6 rhythm, Amara teaches a combination of dance moves from the Golden Era of Egypt.  Sultry sophistication and ethereal elegance is the aspiration while combining the original intention of the song of waiting for promised love that never comes. You will come away with an ability to dance to any Oum Koulsom song and adapt to cabaret or stage performances.

Amara is a Master Teacher and Choreographer, Concert Performer and Seminar Leader of new and old world dances of the Middle East. Amara was awarded performances for the Egyptian American Professional Society at the United Nation and the Tourism Authority for Egypt.

Amara is known as the Malemah (Maven) of Egyptian Dance. Highly recognized around the world as an authority of Egyptian Dance Styles. Amara researches authentic movements and has choreographed, staged and documented hundreds of dances during her career.

TIME: 12:30-5:00pm (time subject to slight change); 4 hrs intensive with break for water/coffee each day

PRICE OPTIONS:

-         $59/cane workshop (canes will be available to borrow at workshop);

-         $59/Egyptian Orientale workshop;

-         $90/both workshops. This option includes FREE DVD from Amara’s collection: “Raqs Al Asaya – Cane Techniques A to Z” only if you signed up and paid by Sep 30, 2008.
